Abstract
Background: One of the most popular procedures for body
sculpting is still abdominoplasty, for which many new surgical
techniques are released every year. But the region beneath the
abdomen has received little attention. Consequently, patients
who have a body lift or abdominoplasty without a corresponding
monsplasty frequently report discomfort with function and
appearance, especially in the pubic region.
Objective: The purpose of this prospective study was to
assess the cosmetic and functional effects of monsplasty in female
patients who had undergone abdominoplasty.
Patients and Methods: between September 2021 and December
2023 at the Plastic Surgery Department Assiut University,
A total of 30 women who were candidate for abdominoplasty
associated with mons deformity were included in this
study from the. Those women were randomly subdivided into
2 groups; traditional abdominoplasty or liposuction-assisted
abdominoplasty without monsplasty (group A) and with monsplasty
(group B) - Mons lift as a technique of monsplasty- to
Compare the female genital self-image, degree of mons deformity
and measurements of the mons region between both groups.
We performed traditional (classical) abdominoplasty
With the classical horizontal incision, excluding
extended and belt abdominal lipectomy.
Results: The main findings of the study included: Both
groups showed no significant differences regarding baseline
and perioperative data. The operative duration was not significantly
different between the two groups. There was a significant
postoperative reduction in the various measurements during
follow-up, except for the length of the labia majora
in group B). Additionally, there was a significant improvement
in the degree of mons pubis tosis deformity after surgery in (group < br />B) The Female Genital Self-Image Scale showed significant
improvement in group B.
Conclusion: Monsplasty reduces discomfort in the pubic area
area and positively impacts body image, self-esteem, and sexual
experience.
